A month-long training course
on Modern Rice Production for the 30 newly
recruited Scientific Officers of the Bangladesh
Rice Research Institute (BRRI) concluded on Monday
(25 August) at the BRRI training classroom, Gazipur.
BRRI Director General Dr Md Nur-E-Elahi distributed
certificates among the participants as the chief
guest. BRRI Director (Research) Dr M A Salam and
Head of Adaptive Research Dr Musherraf Husain attended
the function as the special guest. Heads of 18 research
divisions and senior officials were also present.
Principal Scientific Officer of the Training Division
Golam Mowla presided over the concluding session.
While speaking Dr Elahi termed the performances
of the participants as wonderful and amazing since
all of them received distinction certificates, obtaining
record marks ranging from 84 to 94 for the first
time in 37 years of BRRI. The knowledge they gained
through extensive training on all aspects of rice
production including frontier technology will be
guided for attaining food security of our people,
he added.
Dr Salam said, these excellent results
of the participants proved the validity of the recent
recruiting process.
It may be mentioned here that
of the 30 trainees, four were placed in the first
position; seven, second and four, third positions.
